Thoughts on “Minimalism: Living a Meaningful Life” Chapter 6 9/10/2012

For the next 7 weeks, starting on Monday 8/6, I am going to read a book called “Minimalism: Live A Meaningful Life” by Joshua Fields Millburn and Ryan Nicodemus. I am reading one chapter a week (as suggested) and see where I end up. I want to invite you to join me for the next 7 weeks if it sounds interesting to you. Post what jumps out at you, I would love to compare notes!

Chapter 6 of Minimalism: Live a Meaningful Life: Contribution

“As you grow as an individual, an amazing thing tends to happen: you have more of yourself to give. It’s an incredible cycle: the more you grow the more you can help others grow and the more you help others grow, the more you’ll grow in return.”

This week I feel like I am preaching to the choir. So many people that I am now in contact with on a regular basis contribute regularly to others and their community. You know and experience this wonderful cycle of giving.

I feel as though I am just at the beginning of prioritizing contribution in my life. I for so long rationalized that “writing the check” to organizations was enough. I have not stopped doing that, it fact John and I give to more meaningful causes then we ever have, but contribution is so much more.

If you are contributing to individuals and your community, keep doing what you’re doing! Your contribution makes a difference!

If you are like me and for so long talked about it, but did not do it. JUST DO IT! That is now my motto. Find someone to do it with. Its always easier with a friend!
