Chapter 2 of Minimalism: Live a Meaningful Life

Feeling Better:
“The desire to improve your health has little to do with looking better.”

“Instead, we’re far more concerned about how you feel. We want you to feel better; looking better is a nice perk that is essentially guaranteed once you start feeling better.”

We all love to look good, but I certainly understand what the authors are getting at. A few years back I decided to lose 20 pounds and I did it through counting my calories and only allowing myself to have so many calories a day plus some exercise. I will never forget the day that I had a choice between a banana and a donut that were the same calories and I always went for the junk.

Yes, I lost the weight, but once I started to ramp up my exercise, I never had enough energy for the intense workout. I changed what I was eating and was AMAZED at how much better I felt. When I make healthier food choices, I have so much more energy and feel so much more focused.
